God is love, love never fails.
So if Jesus fails to save anyone, is that failure?
Infernalists say no, it’s not failure because the unsaved have rejected Jesus so it’s their choice.
But Jesus came to seek and save the lost, so how could anyone remain lost and unsaved while saying Jesus succeeded?
If anyone remains unsaved and lost then that is clearly “missing the mark” set by, and for, Jesus.
To give a sports analogy, it’s like a batter going up to the plate, striking out, and then calling his strikeout a success because the pitcher wasn’t cooperating. He threw too fast and had too much curve on the ball, etc. The pitcher didn’t want me to hit it so I didn’t.
Obviously that’s failure. If that’s not failure then getting a hit isn’t a success.
Likewise, if losing a soul to eternal damnation isn’t failure then the souls He did save cannot be called a success.
I believe losing any single soul is failure on the part of the savior. His declared purpose was to save the lost, therefore any soul permanently lost is a failed attempt. If there is failure then He missed the mark and missing the mark, by definition, is sin.
Saying a soul is damned for eternity is calling Jesus a sinner for He missed the mark.
