Caffeine Free Me – In the Beginning Writer #1, 2011-06-30 The Beginning Today is actually day three. I began on June 28, 2011 as a caffeine free man. Well, mostly. The first day …I experienced the expected headache and lethargy. It was distracting while I was at work but my co-workers were more than understanding and saw me through. I must admit that I had a cup of black tea on that first day. I figured that it may help the caffeine crash… but it didn’t really feel like it helped. I used two aspirin to cope. Day two …no aspirin required. I felt good! I felt a brief headache as I awoke but it went away. I had time left to sleep so I went back to sleep. The sleep I felt early this morning was fantastic! It was so deeply relaxing and healing. With no caffeine floating around my system my body was free to sleep as it was designed to. It was amazing how only one day later my body adjusted to the lack of drug (caffeine) in my system. They say that the headache is from the blood vessels expanding back to their normal size. If I had no headache then it can be assumed that most, if not all of the expanding happened on the first day. I was tired but it wasn’t too bad. Day three …(today, the day I’m finally writing this), I woke up easily, no headache and I had morning energy. I didn’t need my caffeine fix first. I didn’t need my bee pollen/royal jelly/ginseng pill. I just felt well rested and could move about without difficulty. Overall …I notice a difference in my speech rate, speed of thought, and level of reaction to things. Caffeine makes you jumpy and makes you talk fast. Being a New Yorker most of my life (the state, not the city) I already talk too fast. Caffeine doesn’t help! Now I’m able to chill out when I speak and pronounce sentences more clearly. I can also pause to give thought to my words. That’s almost impossible when you’re hopped up on caffeine. Random Awesomeness adrenal exhaustionadrenal fatiguequitting caffeinert3t3throid
